Epistle to Willie Creech

On the 17th May 1787 at Selkirk’s Forest Inn Burns wrote this epistle during his one and only night’s stay in Selkirk. Willie Creech was an Edinburgh publisher of Burns’s Poems. He became one of the city magistrates and in 1811 was elected Lord Provost.

The learned class of Edinburgh also get mentioned. Dugald Stewart was the Professor of Moral Philosophy in the University and Mackenzie wrote "The Man of Feeling".
